Summer 2024 - Adapting the Headlines: A Playwriting Course
LAB DESCRIPTION
Often the headlines provide fodder and inspiration for awesome, exciting and intriguing stories. How can one adapt a headline into a play? This workshop will teach playwriting basics, with emphasis on character driven stories, genre, dialogue, and plot. Participants will develop the beginnings of a short play based on the headline chosen.

Attend three virtual (via Zoom) workshops.
Serve as an ambassador for CNP

LEADERSHIP LAB INSTRUCTOR
Amina S. McIntyre
Amina S. McIntyre is an Atlanta based playwright whose productions and readings include: Actor’s Express, Atlanta History Museum, Lenoir-Rhyne University, and Out of Hand Theatre. Her play, On the Third Day, produced by Vanguard Repertory Theatre, earned a Suzi Bass Award. Amina earned degrees in Anthropology from Colby College, African American and African Diaspora Studies from Indiana University, Playwriting from Spalding University, and Theological Studies from Emory University. She is a Ph.D Candidate at Vanderbilt University and Co-Founder of the Hush Harbor Lab, a new play development company for Black Artists.
